itinerary: schedule, events, & attire

Friday, May 16th

Welcome Party, Cocktails, & Mehendi: 6:00PM-10:00PM at The River Inn

This is where we will greet all of you as you come in! There will be food and drinks for you to enjoy, and indoor and outdoor seating.

If you would like mehendi, there will be artists there to add designs to your hands. Enjoy the venue or take a walk along the river among the trees. Make sure you look up, as Big Sur has countless visible stars!

Suggested Attire (Welcome Party, Cocktails, & Mehendi)

Please come dressed in your most fun and colorful semi-formal outfits. We want to see everyone looking as bright and beautiful as possible. If there’s an outfit that you’ve had sitting in your closet and haven’t had the right event to wear it, this is the place!

There will be both indoor and outdoor areas. Expect the temperature to drop, so please bring a jacket, shawl, or whatever else you’d like to keep yourself warm when outdoors.

Saturday May 17th

Baraat & Wedding Ceremony: 9:30AM-11:30AM at the The Pfeiffer State Park Amphitheater

We will be meeting outside Big Sur Lodge for the baraat, which will begin at 9:40. If you’re a little late, just join the crowd! The ceremony is anticipated to begin at about 10:00. The baraat will lead you directly to the seating.

Sit back and enjoy our wedding ceremony.

Suggested Attire (Baraat & Wedding Ceremony)

This should be your best-dressed event. If you bought any Indian clothing, we suggest this is where you wear it.

The sun will just be rising above the mountains and trees, so the event will start chilly but should become warmer as we continue.

Brunch: 11:30PM-3:30PM at The Big Sur Lodge

This is a very relaxed event. You can walk here directly from the ceremony, which is extremely close by.

If you’d prefer to return to your room to change and return, you are more than welcome to do so.

Sit, eat, and enjoy.

And most importantly, please rest, relax, and restore your energy before the reception!

Suggested Attire (Brunch)

Brunch will directly follow the ceremony. This is a very open, unofficial, and relaxed event, so if you’d like to return to your room to change and come back for food, you may. Ceremony clothes are also fine, if you’d rather stay in them.

Drinks, Dinner, & Reception: 4:00PM-10:00PM at The Village

Please try to arrive between 4:00 P.M. and 5:00 P.M. so we can get everyone comfortably seated and get some pre-dinner drinks in your hands! After that, we will have our final dinner and dessert, served based on your selection from the RSVP form you so kindly filled out for us.

After dinner will be the reception. You can use this time to burn off that extra energy with drinks and dancing, or relax after a long weekend under the stars by the fire.

This is our final event, so go all out!

Suggested Attire (Drinks, Dinner, & Reception)

For this event, we suggest clothing that falls into the categories of semi-formal or formal, but we also ask you to prioritize your comfort!

All of the hard stuff is over. Here you will be served your dinner and dessert, and then you can party! There will be drinks and dancing, as you please, but also plenty of seating to just enjoy your evening out under the stars and trees.

Since this event goes into the evening, please be prepared for the weather to cool down.

ATTIRE (GENERAL)

Indian Clothing

If you are new to Indian clothing and want to invest in some, we encourage it—but please know it’s not mandatory! We know you’ll look fantastic no matter what you wear. For those of you who are new to Indian weddings, we encourage you to try and wear your favorite or best look for the wedding ceremony itself.

Our family does ask that you please avoid wearing black, white, and grey during the wedding. If you’re unsure about where your clothing falls on this color spectrum, please reach out to Patrick and he’ll help you out.

Shoes

If you plan to wear heels, dress shoes, and any other types of formal shoes, please be aware that some of the ground may not be level on the way to events, or sometimes even in certain areas of the events themselves.

For those of you bringing your highest, thinnest heels, we encourage you to keep some lower, wider ones on-hand as well for traveling to and from events so you can protect your shoes and, more importantly, your knees and ankles!

We’ll have a place at each event for you to store whichever pair of shoes you’re not wearing, as well as seating so you can sit comfortably while you switch out your shoes.
